Desktop System Admin

Location: Sanford, FL

Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware or software as well as phones and other a/v equipment. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problems and determines and implements solution.

Goals: Maintain computing environment by identifying requirements, installing upgrades, troubleshooting issues and monitoring performance.

Principle Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software and hardware issues for Windows, Apple OS users, and portable devices:
    • Monitor and field support ticket system – triage and escalate as needed
    • Respond to voice calls from internal customers – triage and escalate as needed
    • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, software and operating system software.
    • Printer support and troubleshooting
  1. Maintain daily performance of computer systems – both Windows and Apple
    • UPS batteries maintenance and support
    • Install upgrades/updates in a timely manner
    • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problem
    • Resolve network and wifi issues
  1. New hires, changes and terms – set-up all computer needs for new hires and retrieve all computer equipment from terminations:
    • Train computer users on basics when initially set up
    • Setup all hardware and software needed in addition to phone, email and system access by first day of employment
    • Retrieve all IT equipment from terminating employee by last day of employment
    • Create, change, and delete user accounts per support requests
  1. Backup for Network Support
    • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
    • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, upgrade administrative tools and utilities and configure and add new services as necessary
    • Perform routine server startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
  1. General Duties
    • Order necessary equipment
    • Maintain vendor relationships
    • Keep inventory clean of all old equipment – get rid of as necessary
    • Maintain asset log of all IT equipment in the ministry
